JSJBF Monthly Membership Meetings

All JSJBF Members and prospective members are welcome!

If you want JSJBF to know WHO YOU ARE and that you're looking for work, this is the best way you can make your availability and skills known. You also can network with other artists and potentially venue owners that can help you out. This is one of the single most important things you can do to market your group (and you can have a great night out)!

Meetings are scheduled for the third Wednesday of the month....
See you there.

Read more about Matt Wade on his website.

Conjugals organist/keyboardist Matt Wade comes from the Jersey Shore area, in the town of Point Pleasant. Matt started on piano at age three. After playing mostly pop music for a long time, he continued playing piano and taught himself the organ, playing jazz, blues and funk music. Over the past seven years, he has played with multiple bands, and has also shared the stage with many great artists, like Vinnie "Mad-Dog" Lopez (formerly of the E Street Band), Joey DeFrancesco (world renowned Jazz Organist), Dave Mason (of Traffic), among others. Matt also currently performs with his funk/jazz organ trio under the name "Matt Wade Trio" and has other groups where he performs his own original music. Matt is currently studying at the New School for Jazz and Contemporary Music in NY, NY. and is in the process of recording his debut record of his original, jazz flavored pop music.

Conjugals drummer/percussionist “Sweet” Lew Rosengrant began playing drums at the age of twelve. He practiced and listened to music constantly, and began honing his skills. He later attended Brookdale College and took part in the jazz band, electronic studio and in the theatre, but it wasn't until he transferred to Monmouth University, that he started to realize his musical goals. The jazz and theatre programs, as well as orchestra, kept him in and around an exciting music community. This experience led to gigs with many bands such as Lunar City, Jaski, Random Test, Mimi Cross, deSol, and many others. School also led Lew to begin teaching at Drummers Alley and Red Bank Academy of the Arts where he teaches and average of 40 students per week. Lew temporarily relocated to New York City, where he studied and gigged with such artists as Derrek Phillips (drummer from The Charlie Hunter Trio), and the Brazilian Parade Band "Samba New York", as well as sitting in on many jam sessions with musicians from all over the world. After moving back to New Jersey, he became a permanent drummer for the Matt O’Ree band, with whom he also currently performs and tours.

These two musicians decided to form their Jazz/Funk duo after a performance at the Monmouth Correctional Facility in Freehold, New Jersey where they played for a large crowd of inmates and personnel. This is also what spurred on their name, “The Conjugals”. Matt and Lew create a tight groove, and play everything from original compositions, to their own takes on old jazz standards and popular songs. [You can also check out Lew and Matt's other projects at the various web links listed or through the friends list below.] To contact The Conjugals about performance info or booking them, email The Conjugals at conjugals@gmail.com a mixture of grit and sensitivity.
