MAJOR FESTIVALS, FUNDRAISERS & MUSIC SERIES
a subdirectory will go here
JSJBF produces one of the premiere FREE Jazz and Blues events in the Northeast in early June, the Red Bank Jazz and Blues Festival, which draws about 100,000 attendee: it's the largest free J&B concert in the north-east produced by a non-profit organization..
JSJBF produces and manages a wide range of additional events throughout the year which are annually recurring and/or series events. Our Major charitable fundraiser is Harpin' Help, which successfully raised funds for a number of different charitable organizations over the years. Other events through the year raise funding for our educational and scholarship programs.
Volunteers are always needed for all events. If you wish to learn more about helping at one of our events, please email the Volunteer Committee.
The listings below show our ongoing events and series. Click on the link in the title for this year (or this week's) time and dates, and for more information about the events.

The close of the the Long Branch Jazz and Blues Series in West End Park. This music series and finale is supported by the city
of Long Branch, especially the Long Branch Urban Enterprise Zone (UEZ) and Barry Stein. Spend a beautiful day listening to Jazz and Blues
at the shore in dramatically redeveloped Long Branch!
Enjoy the great "end of summer" party!
We'd like to thank The City of Long Branch, the UEZ and Barry Stein for helping to make this possible again.

Harpin'
Help is an annual charity event that generates food
and money for those in need. We endeavor to bring you
a memorable show, featuring some of the greatest musicians
in the world showcasing the power and versatility of
a small and highly under-rated instrument, the harmonica.
Organized by our own Sandy Mack.
All food/non-perishable items donated go to
Red Bank Lunch Break.
Monetary proceeds benefit JSJBF education and scholarship programs. Last year we donated over 800 pounds of food to Lunch Break thanks to this event.

The JSJBF IBC competition, both for bands and original CD, usually takes place in October.

|
The International Blues Challenge (IBC) will be entering its 23nd year in 2007. This is the largest gathering of blues bands in the world, with the event located in Memphis, TN. As the IBC enters its 23nd edition, it has evolved into the nation’s biggest and most respected showcase for Blues musicians ready to take their act to the national stage.
The IBC is a judged “Battle of the Bands” in which competitors take the stage and play a short set for a panel of judges. The acts are judged based on an established set of criteria. The IBC represents an international search by The Blues Foundation and its Affiliated Organizations (mostly blues societies) for the Blues Band and Solo/Duo Blues Act ready to perform on a national stage, but just need that extra break. Each Affiliate of The Blues Foundation has the right to send a band and solo/duo act to represent the organization at the IBC Semi-Finals on Beale Street in Memphis, TN.
