Did you ever wonder why the harmonica, an orchestral instrument, became a staple of the blues? Or why use a guitar, a violin, a piano or just your plain ole voice for instruments. What does it mean to sing the blues?
Or if you like Jazz, what does it mean to be scattin'?
Find out some answers by having one of Jersey Shore Jazz and Blues Foundation's performers come to your school or location give an informative lecture.
These presentations give students and audiences the wealth of knowledge of our past. Why not give our children some of the history of Jazz and Blues by presenting it in a special way.
"Musician in the House!" Program
This musical program is a bit a history, and a bit of the music of the genre. One of our professional working musicians will present.

A two session workshop is available - Session One will take the students through the history of either Jazz or Blues. Session Two
is the "hands on" experience of writing a song and/or playing an instrument.
There is also a two session workshop on building a small Blues focused instrument.
Choose either a Jazz or a Blues focus.
- Workshops:
- WKB Blues
WKJ Jazz
WKIN Build your instrument
"Go with the Pro" Workshop
A professional Jazz or Blues Musician, one of our own members, will come to your school’s Band class and work out songs with the Band. Learn the reasons why Jazz and Blues songs sound the way they do! The Pro will help the band "bend" the songs they play to add a Jazz or Blues feel.
A great experience for a school band to have a professional Musician share their skills and expertise with them.
Past Participants
The Foundation has a great caché of performers and presenters, each with their own special brand of wisdom. The presentations are an excellent source of musical history.
They are formatted to be instructional and participatory with the inclusion of history, and a question and answer portion.
